...at the entrance to my space at Brooklyn Studios ACRYLIC, INK, COLLAGE Below I'm including individual shots of the three mentioned above. The first is "Lagoon", then "Quiet Hills, Slow Mist" and the third another unfinished collage with ink and acrylic washes. The middle of these three paintings is an often seen view from where I live on the hills above Hebden Bridge. Those damp, misty days are certainly atmospheric! Such conditions are not always welcome but can lead to some spectacular effects not unlike Japanese landscapes.

I'm very happy to say that I am currently taking part in a 'Mixed Show' of work at Calder Gallery. Sue and Phil accepted seven of my paintings, mostly new ones. The exhibition will continue until this Saturday, 22 August. The gallery will then be closed for a couple of months, reopening on Saturday 17 October. I'm planning to put new work in for the second stint of the mixed show. I'm very happy to be included in this event; the venue is great, the standard of work is generally very good and my paintings will be on display for quite some time - until Sunday 15 November. Here are some snapshots from the preview: The third photo' shows my three paintings plumb in the middle of the wall next to some rather sweet paper cuts of birds.
Sadly, I didn't have time to explore the various rooms of Cartwright Hall at the opening but plan to return in September to have a wander. Here's the address if you fancy popping along: Cartwright Hall Art Gallery, Lister Park, Bradford, BD9 4NS and here's a snippet of info from their website, "Cartwright Hall is set in the magnificent, Green Flag-awarded grounds of Lister Park, with a boating lake, adventure playground and Mughal Gardens. There is a privately run cafe in the Lister Park boat house which opens seasonally." |
