An Excavated Environment!

I found myself at Carrières de Lumières, at the heart of the Alpilles near Avignon this week and was struck by echoes from my little painting, 'A Built Environment'. Carrières is an old limestone quarry which has been cleverly reassigned as an exhibition/performance space. Although it doesn't really do justice to the spectacle that I enjoyed, here's a picture I surreptitiously took on my mobile (photography not allowed even though lots of people were flashing away!).

This weekend sees my paintings coming off the walls of Waterside Gym and finding their way back to Brooklyn Studios where they will be added to later this week by the work returning home from Nelsons Wine Bar. The studio walls are going to be quite laden by the time the Open Studios begins on Friday 3 July.

Here's a tiny painting entitled "A Built Environment" that was shown at Nelsons. It's a mixed media piece: acrylic paint, drawing ink and collage. It will be back at Brooklyn studio this weekend...if it hasn't sold!

"Whimper" - a painting from last week.

Here are some details of what's currently happening:

I have a small amount of work on the walls of Waterside Gym right now, until the month end
My paintings are in Nelsons Wine bar now and will be there until 2 July.

I'm taking part in the Hebden Bridge Open Studios. My space at Brooklyn Studios will be open on Fri 3rd and Sat 4th July but if you'd like to meet me, I won't be there until Sunday 5th. The studios are open on each of the three days from 11 - 5pm.
And finally, I will have about 6/7 pieces in a mixed show at Calder Gallery from 2 July to mid August. There isn't an official opening.
