I am so pleased to announce that I'm in the process of moving into my new studio with my very own shop window! I now have the keys to my new space at Hebble End Works and my clean up operation started yesterday.
Hebble End Works is currently undergoing a big transformation with an influx of new small businesses. A grand opening is planned some time soon when everyone is settled in and spruced up. Here's a photo of the Works frontage and a 'before' pic of the outside of my place... I can't wait! It (THE BIG AUCTION) starts today at 7pm prompt! Viewing will be from 12 noon. I hope the weather, picturesque though it is, doesn't get in the way! Will I see you there?? Here are two views from home this morning. Brrrrrrrrrrrr Here is a fantastic painting from Lesley Oldaker which will be available at the auction. 'Together Again' 2015
Lesley Oldaker Oil on gesso 300g paper 16"x20" I had a very good weekend at the studio where I enjoyed playing around with some ideas for small landscapes. I also had a chance to chat with some lovely people. And finally, at the eleventh hour I sold my little painting 'Beyond'! I always have mixed feelings when wrapping up a piece that I've had on my wall for a while and of course if it's a favourite of mine, it's all the more difficult to see it go. 'Beyond', on the table being carefully swaddled in layers of protection to be delivered to its new owner tomorrow. For the first time ever, I'm having a sale of work. I will be at my space in Brooklyn Studios this weekend 27 and 28 February from 11 - 4pm. If you'd like to come along to view please contact me by email annagibsonstudio@gmail.com or text me on 07759 386687. here are some snapshots from the studio of work which has been reduced by 10%:
Caroline Reed is organising a big fund-raising event for which I have donated a painting. Please have a look at the Facebook page where you can find more details: Flood Recovery Art Auction. Many artists have already donated both 2D and 3D work. It promises to be a fantastic event and all in a good cause. Here are some snippets from the FB page: "AN ART AUCTION to raise funds for victims of the Boxing day floods. On Boxing Day the Calder Valley suffered devastating flooding. With an overwhelming response, artists from around the globe have been generously donating their work for an auction to be held on the 4th March. Proxy bids are now being taken. New work is arriving daily." An explanation of the proxy bid from Caroline: "No charges, just put the lowest price to the highest price you are willing to pay the auctioneer will start at the lowest bid unless there is a starting price on a piece." To place a proxy bid, message your bid and contact details to Caroline Reed, this will then be passed on to the auctioneer on the night. I have donated one of my oil paintings, "Coal Shoes" here's a photo' THE AUCTION TAKES PLACE AT THE TRADES CLUB IN HEBDEN BRIDGE ON 4 MARCH 2016 - please put the date in your diary! : )
I have started the new year by tidying up the studio ready to start new things. I'm excited by the direction of recent work and have a few little projects on the go; some I can tell you about but one venture has to remain a secret for the time being. Here are a couple of studio shots (believe it or not, this is a tidy desk for me):
Well folks, this will be the last week of the Winter Fair at Artsmill and it's well worth a visit. The door will be open tomorrow then again Wednesday through to Friday from 11 - 4pm each day. I will be invigilating the last session on Friday afternoon if anyone fancies keeping me company? : )
Although the door to Brooklyn Studios is now closed following our Festive Open event, visits may be possible by arrangement with our talented studio holders. |
